Andrew Johnson


  Andrew Johnson is a native of Pine Bluff Arkansas where he attended and graduated from Coleman High School.  After graduating from Arkansas A.M.&N. College which is now The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), Andrew joined IBM in Endicott, New York as a Junior Engineer in the Interconnection Process Development area of the North Street Lab.  He enjoyed assignments in development, manufacturing engineering and manufacturing management before relocating to Austin, Texas in 1980.  Transferring to IBM Brooklyn in 1983, he served as Materials Manager, Quality Manager and Operations Manager before transferring to IBM East Fishkill in 1986.  He held a variety of development and operational positions in the East Fishkill plant before transferring again to IBM Austin in 1993.  He is currently a Senior Patent Engineer in the Intellectual Property Law department at IBM Austin.

Andrew attends church at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as an instructor in New Member Orientation.  He is a writer, publisher and enjoys teaching Christian Education.  He has served as a deacon, trustee, Christian Education Director, Sunday School Superintendent and various other positions within the church.

He enjoys several pastimes including fishing, carpentry, computers, reading, writing, surfing the internet and teaching.

Andrew is married to Helen Louise Fleming, PhD,  of Forrest City, Arkansas who is also a graduate of UAPB, Prairie View A&M and The University of Texas at Austin.  They have 2 offspring:  Andrew Rafael of Austin, Tx and Rev. Heather Louise of Austin, TX/Atlanta, GA.
